Dr. H. Joseph Naim

Before leading the Gastric Sleeve Center, Dr. Naim received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Southern California, and his Medical Degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Continuing his studies, he completed his residency in General Surgery at New York Methodist Hospital, where he was Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Naim went on to finish his fellowship in Minimally Invasive Bariatric Surgery at University Medical Center, under the direction of world-renowned bariatric surgeon Robert E. Brolin, M.D.

A board-certified surgeon in practice since 2004, Dr. Naim is a respected member of Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach and Chapman Medical Center in Orange County, all of which have been named Bariatric Center of Excellence Hospitals. He holds multiple specialties in laparoscopic gastric bypass, open gastric bypass, Revisional surgery, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, and LAP-BAND® placement procedures.

Also a dedicated researcher, Dr. Naim has shared his findings through numerous publications and presentations, aiming to advance bariatric surgery through his work. Currently, he is affiliated with the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, New York State Society of Surgeons, and IFSO, the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity.

For his outstanding work within the fields of bariatric medicine, Dr. Naim has received numerous awards and honors, including Faculty Certificate of Recognition for Scientific Presentation at the International Congress and Endo Expo in Las Vegas, The Highest Research Productivity Award from the Department of Surgery at New York Methodist Hospital, and the Resident Achievement Award from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons at New York Methodist Hospital.
